    Learning objectives

    We prefer using learning objectives rather than subjects. Learning objectives help both your students and Alfie get a clear sense of what the assessment is about.

    A well formulated learning objective should be about something the student can do and not about something the student knows. A well formulated learning goal consists of three parts:

    [You can] + [actionable verb] + [specific context]

    Some examples:

    • You can calculate the volume of a sphere given its radius or diameter.
    • You can ask for directions to well-known landmarks in French.

    The most important part is getting the verb right, so here is short list of specific and actionable verbs:
